Overtime, the world has witnessed vast changes in human activity. Many of these changes have forced countries to recognize the importance of working together in order to eliminate or minimise the impact of undesirable phenomenon and to promote more acceptable practices. This may involve countries coming together to grapple with problems such as development, unacceptable living standards, child labour, unemployment and other social issues. Jamaica, of course, cannot divorce itself from developments in the global economy and so has become a signatory to a number of conventions, treaties and resolutions which have been adopted by a number of global affiliates to achieve certain benchmarks in terms of standards set by these organizations.
